Series 3 Stuck in reverse

Hi all,

My series 3 appears to be stuck in reverse but with loads of diagonal play in the gearstick! Has anyone experienced this before? Hoping to fix it myself

You might have also put it in 1st or 2nd , remove your new gearstick and see how the selector rods sit, and check the detent springs and balls to see they keep the selector shafts where they should be

Is this a particularly challenging job or something that I should be able to do on my driveway?

Easy just remove the gearstick and you will see the 3 selector forks and in neutral they are all in line and only one shaft should be engaged with the other two still in line , the detent springs easy check too just make sure they dont spring out when you remove bolts the top cover comes off easy too
