Many may have seen my previous post about a desperate cry for help about my bonnet that was stuck due to a cable that snapped .Irishrover was very helpful in offering moral support he suggested that if I resolved the problem to share it well here goes.

Only one side of my bonnet would release when i pulled the release handle after viewing every website that have forums on RR's an American site suggested that the bonnet could be released from under the car using a long stick it did not work for me .What i managed to do was to lift the free end up and wedge my rubber mallet between the bonnet and bodyworkto create a gap-I could then make out the stuck bonnet pin and although I could not touch it I used a 12 inch hacksaw blade and cut through the pin in fact so after about an hour of building up my right arm muscle using an alien concept the pin broke in two and the bonnet was released - I still have to buy a pin but at £5 quid its worth it.

A piece of advice to any one who may be interested I would suggest if you car is getting on it is probably one of the best preventitive solutions to replace any old cables with a new one.

Hope this is of some help to you - I am thinking of changing my user name to bodger!!!!!!!!!!

That's nice to see-a succesful fix, even if it did cost a fiver (Plus the new cable)
This is not the first, and will no doubt be not the last cable to break so the string is well worth while.
Just shows another thing to check when dabbling under the bonnet!!!!
