Well im sure you are all aware of the problem I had 5-6 weeks ago, once i replaced the starter it has started 1st turn since then.
except for the last 3-4 days, left over night it take 8-10 turns to start, once it starts it sound as a pound, once its warm the problem is the same if I leave it for 10 minutes or 3 hours, it takes 8-10 turns the same as if i leave it over night..... all fuel lines have been checked less than 5weeks ago.... seems like air is getting into the system but as it is the same every single time i am wondering if it could be anything else....?
Any ideas guys?

Have you changed the leak-of pipes?

Small material covered pipes between the injectors near the rocker box ... they crack when they get old and brittle, and a new set might just help .. don't buy from a Landrover place, go to a motor factors and get a metre or so for a fiver, then cut to length .. ;)

changed the leak off pipes this morning and the problem is still there! got 100 yards up the road and it cut out on me, so definately air getting in somewhere!
Any other advice? checked all unions in engine bay, sedimentor is all good. Adjusted idle speed and now is sounds loads better at idle once started at around 750RPM.

Have you checked your fuel filter, it sounds as though it may have collapsed / clogged and is not letting the fuel through at a high enough rate. Can you check the fuel pressure at the injectors to ensure it is maintained at the required pressure.

will change the fuel filter today, should be good though as its only 2 months old.

If i remove the plunger from the stop solenoid and put main body back into position would this be a good test for the stop solenoids operation??

I'd look in the boot at the fuel sender pipes .. Lift the carpets, undo six screws and remove he inspection plate and check the three pipe connections on the sender. The nylon bend where the pipes connect to is known to crack and let air in ...

Literally just got in from checking em Paul, correct, I have repaired the elbows once but looks like they have finally given up the ghost, I am going to collect a new sender unit now, £50 lighter but hopefully will finally but this to bed. will keep u posted

Nice one Mike .. ;)

Colin, Araldite should do a decent job .. I've used it on nylon gears before, just make sure the elbows are clean and dry .. ;)

i used some pig putty and some silicon sealer, it worked for around 3 months, i cant stand the problems anymore so took the plunge and brought a new sender unit today, will be fitting it in the morning.

Check the fuel line in the engine bay where it runs up from under the body into the engine bay. Sometimes the fuel line can rub on the chassis rail and wear a small hole in the pipe. This happened to me and one day and the engine kept cutting out and running like a pig. Also check the small plastic pipe coming off number 4 injector which runs around the back of the rocker cover and down via the gearbox tunnel. Is it still attached, or it may be cracked.

I thought the pipe off injector number 4 was a breather as the 4th spill pipe connector is blocked off.

Tried to remove the old sender this morning after a good soaking of WD40.
The copper pipes that go into th plastic elbows snapped off and now I cant for the life of me get the union apart.
ANy suggestions? or would it be easier to replace black fuel lines with new connections on?

tried mole grips, pipes grips, heat, you name it i tried it, i wonder if i can cut the pipes just after the male fitting, fit a new male fitting and pull the pipes an inch??......
