Struggles to start when engine hot

Hi again
got a 3.5 v8 twin carb starts 1st time every time when cold with very little choke but when run up to temperature and stopped for a few mins struggles to start. Turns over and over and gradually kicks into life after what seems ages 30-50 secs.
Any ideas

is it running rich? would explain why you dont need much choke

does it have electronic igntion? is it the early type with the remote amp under the coil or the latter with the amp on the dissy?

How would I know if running rich? Not electronic ignition got points in 6 month old distributor. What does an amp look like?

have a look at yer plugs if they are black its running rich
