After an engine and gearbox rebuild I developed a big oil leak from the bell housing, then it stopped, initially I thought it was the rear crank seal but the engine oil was not going down, yesterday I had to jack up the rear end and one-two egg cups full of oil ran out the bell housing drain plug hole, the oil looks thick like gearbox oil, I am now thinking that the oil is leaking from the box in to the bell housing, all the seals in the box were replaced by the specialist LR gearbox company that did the recon but I fitted the bell housing myself, does any one know if oil can leak into the bell housing through gearbox/bell housing bolts?

Sounds like the seals were not seated properly, the bolts sit on the outside if they are the ones I am thinking of and wouldn't cause this leak.
