Hello everyone, it’s me again haha

I’ve had this issue for about six months now and I just can’t figure out what’s causing it. Basically, the problem is that when I try to start the car, I turn the key to the ignition position but the dashboard lights don’t come on properly. Then, when I try to crank the engine, it won’t start. If I turn the key back and then try again, the lights come on normally and the car starts without any problems.

It also often happens that when I use the indicator (either left or right), the car suddenly shuts off – even while I’m driving. For example, I’ll be driving and then signal to turn, and the engine just cuts out. I then have to press the accelerator all the way down to get the engine going again, and I have to switch off the indicator if I want to keep driving.

I’ve uploaded some videos so you can see what I mean. I changed the battery a few months ago, and I’ve checked the voltage and current with a multimeter – everything seems fine. I also checked the ground connection under the engine (possibly to the transmission?) and that seems fine as well. I suspect it might be an issue with the ignition barrel.

Anyway, if anyone has had the same or a similar problem, please let me know how you fixed it – or if you have any idea what might be causing this. I’d be very grateful!

Sounds like it could be the switch on the ignition barrel. Known to be problematic.

The indicator stalk mechanism may be pushing/resting on wires that are connected to it, or maybe the small vibration affecting it.

What ever, I think I'd be trying a replacement from a breakers, I don't think it is much effort to swap it over.
