so a strange steering colume shudder on full right lock its happened 3 times now twice going forward once going backwards last all of a second but its a violent shudder all at very slow speed. my moneys on the cv joint the gator is in good shape not split no grease has got out.
no noise from it in normal driving to speak of. iv had cvs go on normal cars before ie 2 wheel drive but they only click on lock so is this an extrem symtom due to the 4 wheel.drive?

No tom did it before and after iv checked all the steering components. Did a vcu check Mr data the front wheel did rotate but it took a lot of effort more than iv seen on the you tube clips all my body weight on the end of my PRI bar.

I have no uneven tyre wear the previous tyres had even wear before I changed them. Have read your previous posts Mr data regarding vcu testing I could try my torque wrench set at 60 ft/lbs that will give a more accurate test.

If I'm lucky its just a CV joint less than 40 quid if not 300 plus I would describe my front end as harsh thought the diff iv previously done the o\s front wheel bearing at the time I also suspected cv.

Every day truly is a surprise with p38 ownership lol

No need for bars to test the VCU, it should just be possible to turn the wheel by gripping the tyre:) A lot of constant pressure required.

Its dark n raining here now will give it a go tomorrow but its not looking hopefully seeing how much effort it took with with a pribar. Interesting reading all the other vc posts on here

new cv is orderd but before i go pulling half shafts out i just wanted to check im right in thinking knocking when turning right would be the left cv as in oppersite side, i dont have the usual cv joint symptoms just this weird 3 times only steering colume shake or could it still be the right hand cv skipping/jumping under load of full lock being 4 wheel drive?

am now thinking i shoulda just orderd x2 cvs and replaced both at the same time :frusty::frusty:
