Hi,

When i go left round a corner (only left) & (worst when going up hill and left) i hear this "onk onk onk" noise coming from i think the back. Im currently up in the alps so there is alot of up hills and corners. I took it into my local frenchie garage who i know reasonably well as our company vehicles all get taken there and he said it all looks normal. Anyone any ideas what it would be, its only started doing it really in the last month.

Happens in different gears (well 2nd or 3rd) cant get fast enough to test the higher ones. Seems fine in a straight line.

I also have a fuel leak, think its the FPR though, so he is changing that for me too, but dont know what to do about this noise. Is there anything i should try and look at.

Oh: 90 TD5 45k
Cheers

have you double checked your rear wheel bearings?

Jack the wheel in question up (offside) and then place the vehicle safely onto a jack stand.

Spin the wheel as fast as you can by hand in order to listen or feel--through the sidewall of the tire for resistance or excessive noise such as slight grinding, scraping or "onk" .

Place your hands at 12:00 and 6:00 on the wheel and wiggle it in a rocking motion backwards and forward toward you and the vehicle . Serviceable bearings generally allow slight movement. Anything more (5mm or so)will require retightening the bearing, servicing the bearing or replacing the bearing.

Thanks for the replies, i will give the bearing a go. Its strange because i cant hear the usual bearing whir, maybe its on the way out.

Are the bearing serviceable/replaceable. I have a feeling on the TD5 disco, u have to replace the whole lot.

Also these bloody french mountain garages, its going to cost me 200 euro to get the fuel pressure reg changed.

Bloody brilliant!!!!!
