Anyone know what this could be (might save me some time searching) When I go round corners (especially right) or try to accelerate in too high a gear, I get a kinda jingle / rubbing noise, sounds like fairly thin metal - may even be to do with the exhaust (loose element in cat?) or a wheel bearing but I've not had chance to have a look yet.

it's a '98 300tdi, was just hopeing someone would say it's "????????????????" it's really common....?

Could be cv joint, but first check the mud shield on the front output flange, it's pressed on ,mine came loose and was spinning on the flange.

output flange on transfer box? don't think it's got one!

Had a look round and can't see much, the exhaust's fine but may catch the rear mudflap occasionally. The only thing I saw which might explain it is the rust on the outside edges of both nearside discs looks pollished so I guess it's rubbing on something as I go round corners. There's no play / noise in any of the wheel bearings probably not that.

I'll get some new pads as soon as I can and probably take the mud flaps off and see if that sorts it. Unless anyone can think of anything else to try?
