Hi all, am getting a strange noise from the rear of my freelander 1 TD4 auto.
When the car is accelerating or maintaining speed, there appears to be a bearing noise coming from the rear of my car. When I ease off the accelerator or lift off all together, the noise goes and comes back when I apply power.
About a year and a bit ago, I put my freelander into a landrover specialist and had to have the VCU changed, diff mounts changed (not sure if all 3 were done) and they also checked the rear diff. They said that the oil in the diff was a bit emulsified so they changed the oil but said that there was a slight rusting on the sun gear which might cause a little bit of noise.
I have also found that when changing from Park to either Drive or Reverse when stationary, the car seems to jolt a little (doesn't seem smooth)
Another thing, when driving some twisty country lanes I was on and off the accelerator quite harshly as I was carry speed through the corners, it seemed to give a small jolt from the back of the car every time I re-applied power.
Any thoughts on this?
Seems to be problem after problem with my car. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Oh by the way, the tyres are only half a year old and they were all replaced at the same time. I don't do much mileage so don't think they are wearing.
