P38A Strange noise on start up..

Hi all,

every now and again when I start the RR, I hear a noise like a ruler being plucked on the edge of a desk.

It only lasts a second or so and then I don't hear it again until the next time it happens.

Apologies for the description of the noise, but anyone any ideas what it might be?

Engine type ?

I used to get noise that coming from behind the instrument binnacle when turning out of our drive, not on start-up though? Always thought mine was something to do with ABS modulator. Not done it for a long while now i think about it.

starter motor recoiling???

Sorry, GEMS 4.0. Doesn't always do it. Don't think its the starter and yes, perhaps could originate driver's side of the engine bay but hard to tell when you're sat in the seat

Could be the engine plucking a ruler on the edge of a desk.

The traction control does make a sort of clicky plucking noise when the light comes on on the slippy stuff.

On the off chance take a look at the belts and see if you have loose strand on one.

+1, just changed the belt on my mates Disco, what a difference, sounded like a bay of ****e before the change. Got a lot of funny looks driving it though, he has a turf business.

Never seen a Disco Underpigeon before.

Em, look at my location and the sign writing on the disco, should give you an idea. Your dog will have to run very fast to **** on this grass.
