Strange Noise after starting

Hi all
I have only had my 03 td5 for a few weeks but i have a strange noise just after the car fires up. The noise sounds like a sprung plastic flap closing some where behind the accelerator pedal area,and it happens every time i start the car, about 3 seconds after it fires up. I cant say that i noticed it before and it is probably nothing to worry about but it would be nice to know what it is. I have looked for it but cant seem to pin it to anything in particular.
Any ideas please.

If it happened on my TD5 defender I would **** myself.

As you have a disco I would guess that it's the ABS system powering up. Try putting your foot on the brake pedal and see if you can feel it through the pedal.

Then have a look in yer drivers handbook if you have one. I'm pretty sure it gets a mention in it.

Yeah mine does that. It's the ABS system doing a self test.

You'll notice it does constantly whilst the ABS / EBD / HDC is active as well.
