Afternoon all, just a quickie I hope !!!

When I start the car up (petrol 1.8 2002), for the first five – ten seconds you can year a strange gurgling noise coming from just behind the heater vents, I would compare it to the heating system at home when there is some air around the motor.

Any Ideas and if it is an air lock where do I bleed it from

Andrew

Car has been presure tested for leaks after CHG replaced

yup ted. . . .yes air lock in heater matrix . . . . . .get it to normal temp/ and wiff heater on full /two bleed valves in back off engine bay i fink on your model [check wiff hienz manwell] open them till water ****es out ,mind out cos its very hot [i always get porky to do it] :) :) :)

Thanks for that, can I assume its the one on the left?

What is the one on the right, this has two valves one was partially open the ofther tight

The reason I am asking is that even though the chg has been repleaced and pressure tested I am still loosing 1/2 bottle every 100 miles

Should all be tight Ted. . . .

Appreciate the help

I have tightened them, will go to work tomorrow and see if I loose any more water, after that I am stumped and the system has been preasure tested.

Any other ideas

Good test fer pressure systems . . . .run engine to temp. . .wiff er wet rag [engine off] unscrew expansion tank [top up place] un you should hear a hiss, be very carefull as hot water can **** out. . . .this tells yer its pressured :) :) :)

Thanks for your repies

guess its back to the garage, as I had my head under the bonnet one of my neighbours walked by and said, "dont think its normal to see which smoke from the exhaust"

guess that is where the water is going as the CHG has been fitted incorrectly

that doesnt sound good, you'll have to get it checked.

What pressure was the coolant systen at? should be 0.9-1.2bar, at a guess its the inlet gasket manifold chucking coolant into one or more inlet plenum, remove you spark plugs and the chalky white one will be the culprit.

I would also get a compression test done on the cylinders, even buy your own pressure gauge, around £15 and £8 for the long stem adaptor.

Thanks for that, I have just come into work on the way to the garage that did the repair,

will need to let the system cool abit before topping it up again,

dont want the engine to cool completely as had trouble starting from cold this morning.
