Does anyone know where you can buy storage boxes for the rear of a 90 - ideally for behind the front seats to store some tools, clothing etc. out of sight?

Also, does anyone know the power output of the Standard CD Player (or the power handling of the speakers) fitted to 05 model 90s? I believe the player is manufactured by Visteon but neither the manual nor a cursory look on the web has given me any info. There is nothing discernable on the back of the speakers either. I know the acoustics are never going to be brilliant :D but the CD Player sounds really tinny.

Has anyone else upgraded their speakers etc? Are there any pitfalls as there doesn't seem to be a lot of depth where the rear speakers are installed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Phil.

Hi,

I have an old 1991 90. As it didnt come with a stereo I had to wire one from scratch. Being a blank canvas I decided to build my own lockable box and house the speakers in the lid of the box, which sit width ways across just behind the seats in the rear. The box and lid is made out of chequerplate, using rounded bolts to hold it all together. There is still enough room in the back to have rear seats as well, or I might put in a bench, not sure yet.

I already had an Alpine stereo from another car so installed that and went for Alpine speakers. Now I know someone will say thats overkill but as I got a pair of them for £26 including delivery (discounted from £69.99 on ebay) I was pretty happy.

The sound is excellent, nice range, as they are 3 way speakers. Only problem is the Landy being a 200TDI is a bit loud above 60, so the 2 compete.

i have 02 d90. have a 1000W 4 ch amp to drive a 10" sub base and 2x6" 3 way mounted into the rear air con bracket panel and 90W 2ch amp driving 2x1" tweeters on the dash and 2x4" 2 ways facing down at the bottom of the dash.

so when you crank up the volume, it sounds really powerful and you don't even hear the td5 purr. hee hee

anyway, if your speakers are driven by the head unit it's usually 40W peak.
