Stop solenoid?

My 200tdi cranks but doesn't start. It might be the stop solenoid. Should I be getting a 12v reading from the multimeter between the solenoid and the battery negative while ignition is on?

Yes should be same as battery.

Thanks, found problem. Wire was nicked to stop solenoid. Fires up like a dream now!
