Any info to PC John Cross 596 at Brecon Police Station.
Land Rover 90 : C537 WDG
Stolen from Watergate Car Park, Brecon between 12 midnight and 8am on Sunday 23rd January.
External :
Painted a Bright Grass/Pea Green (Pantone 368 equivalent), with a White roof and Black detailing (wing tops, bonnet vents, hinges, catches, etc)
Front Grill panel is made from square punched steel, bolted to the front panel, with Land Rover badge attached. Below this a Warn M12000 winch with a 13mm steel cable with a yellow safety hook, all within/welded to a custom made mount.
The four road wheels are on silver modular 16” rims, with 235/85R16 Insa Turbo Special tyres (less than 6 months old). The wheels are mounted onto the hubs with alloy wheel spacers - the driver’s side rear wheel is only held on with 4 nuts, as one of the studs has been damaged. Spare Wheel is mounted on the bonnet, and is an unused Bronco Dirt Devil, 235/85R16 - this will unusual, as these tyres went out of production some 4 or 5 years ago. Tyre is mounted on a White 8 spoke steel wheel. Spare Wheel mounting to the bonnet is a custom made bracket and plate arrangement - whilst the whole bonnet is painted green, the original paintwork (light red) will be visible below the plates.
The roof has a small dent in the drivers side near the front, and a hole approx 1” diameter in the centre of the front of the roof.
Rising up the passenger side of the windscreen is a 2.5” diameter snorkel, with a K&N air filter attached to the top of it. The flexible pipe from this passes into the engine bay via a cut-out in the side of bonnet.
The back door is a split tailgate, with custom made hinges at the top - this will be a very rare feature on a 90.
Mounted on the drivers side rear gutter are 2 aerials - a PMR solid aerial (approx 30cm tall) and a 1.5m black whip “orbitor” CB aerial
Chassis is painted bright blue; Axles are red; trailing arms and radius arms are yellow; propshafts are custom made, powder coated bright yellow, with the makers mark still on them - PropShaft Services Ltd.
Internal :
The main 2 seats are light grey Reccaro seats taken from an old Astra GTE - showing some signs of age, including a mark from an angle grinder on the drivers seat. These are held on custom made mounts. The centre seat is a standard grey LR centre seat
Steering wheel is a Mountney 13.5” wooden 3-spoke wheel, held to the boss with 2 screws missing.
The dashboard has several screw-holes on the top surface where the radios where previously mounted. Below the left side of the binnacle, there are 5 small steel switches and LEDs, cut into the dash. Radio (Kenwood CD-Radio) is mounted below these.
A mesh Dog Guard separates the cabin from the load bed, with various bits of equipment mounted to this.
Below the passenger seat, there are 2 large car batteries, wired in parallel, with a pair of terminals to the front of the seat box. There are also 2 electrical cut-off switches in this area.
A wiring ‘loom’ runs from the driver’s side door pillar to the rear of the vehicle, to a connector on the rear panel. There are also wires for the 2 radios (CB and PMR).
GRP Transmission Tunnel has been cut at the rear of the gear lever access to allow for the gearboxes being further back than standard - boot will not cover the holes.
Technical features :
Engine and gearbox are mounted lower and further back than standard - the GRP gearbox tunnel has had to be modified to allow space for the gear linkages to fit through.
Engine is a modified 200Tdi, fitted with a Garret T4 hybrid turbo from Allard. Inlet manifold has been modified to allow air entry between valves 2 and 3 rather than end-on, as standard. Intercooler is a custom made Allard alloy intercooler, which is almost the same size as the front of the engine bay. The intercooler, radiator and fans (2 x 16”, 1 x 14”
are mounted on a custom made, blue painted framework, designed to allow these components to be swiftly removed for cleaning/access. Turbo Waste-gate bypass control goes via a splitter for the boost gauge to a tap on the side of the binnacle in the cabin.
The engine wiring loom has been cut to fit so that a 200Tdi engine will mate to a 300Tdi loom.
Suspension : Orange polybushes fitted all around. Springs are Orange Scorpion Racing +1” springs, with +2” deCarbon shock absorbers all around. Shock Mounts are modified, with the rear shocks mounted on lower brackets as well. Dislocation cones are fitted to the rear axle.
Brakes : Rear Brakes are Discovery rear Disks. Front Brakes are new cross-drilled, grooved and vented disks, with new callipers, designed for a LR 130.
