OK. Strange one this but I'm scratching my head...

Wifes 1.8 has been great since we got it. No problems other than couple of minor things to take care of. (Idle air valve, CD player, nothing else engine related)
Just fixed the leaky flexible exhaust joint it had on it on Saturday with no problem. All bolted up nice and tight, no gas leaks (checked 3 times now) and the exhaust smell that WAS there previously has gone. Happy days!

Now, since Monday, its stinking! After she drives it for 20 minutes or so, once it is right up to tempretaure, she complains it stinks. "rubbery , hot smell" she says. "like a clutch smell". Only when sitting in traffic. Not driving along. So I suspect there is something being drawn in through the ventilation system.
My missus knows what a burning clutch smells and feels like but she insists it isnt that. The car is driving great she says.
I checked the brakes over last night and found a sticky slider on one caliper. Sorted that and thought that was the end of it.
NO!
Still stinky afterwards.

Cant find any fluid leaks, no belts appear to be slipping, nothing is rubbing against anything it shouldnt be..it
just stinks!
I haven't driven it because Im not insured but we are going for a drive tonight to see if we can make it do it.

ANYONE got ANY idea what this could be?
Anyone come across this before???

Coolant is fine..
PS fluid hasnt moved since we got it...
No funny noises from alternator but I will have a closer look tonight. Cheers its worth a look.

No wtheres an idea I never thougt of!

The AC is very poor so could be a leak. And I was going to change the pollen filter this week. So will see what happens after that.
I was concentrating on mechanical issues rather than ventilation.
Cheers.
