Fresh IRD Installed Correctly. . .

Its definately not the IRD, though this did need replacing.

Now there are two culprits. The Fuel injection system, or the Clutch. . .There was a bit of slack on the accelerator cable, which I have retensioned. This is about all I will attempt myself on the fuel system. This did nothing except make the car a bit more responsive when applying the gas. Still skippy...

I am hoping it is not the clutch, because I think this means pulling out the IRD allover again, as well as the gearbox.

Symptoms.
The car works in gear well, until the car is accelerated - intermittently, the acceleration will fail and the car will lose energy. On deceleration the car does nothing in the way of skipping. This is probably because less force is required of the clutch friction disc to push the car. But then this keeps the fuel injection culprit in check, because on Decelaration, one is not applying the gas.

I have a feeling the cause has to do with a slippery friction pad in the clutch. I just want to say ****. ****.

This is still a mystery . . .

I'm now leaning towards fuel injection. Used an injector cleaner tonight and was running better. . .also engine brakes are working like a dream, ,car only wants to skip intermittently during acceleration.

try the fuel filter in tank they should be change every ten years ours kept cutting out losing powerit was the dam fuel filter doh

I have the same problem...have you fixed it yet? Mine's got to the stage that it's backfiring like Onslow's cortina in Keeping Up Appearances...not a good look from a yuppie 4wd. On that basis I'm guessing it has to be injection as against clutch (which is pretty worn anyway), also consistent with crap fuel economy. Also almost drowned at the beach the other day when it was missing in the soft sand. Any help much appreciated.
