Well as you all no I sunk it!

Then got it going for 5 min

Then found water in the diesel tank

It then cut out
Since then change fuel filter bled fuel removed
Glow plugs to make sure no water and still nothing - white smokes coming out the exhaust as I'm turning it but no fully starting!

My dad reckons drag it up the road ease clutch out to make it start! All pistons etc are turning as they should and when start came to temp nicely!

Any other ideas?

diesel floats on water,if you have good clean free flowing diesel to injection pump it should go if towed or pump emptied ,water can cause issues in pumps that need strip down to cure ,but id try first

well the lucky thing is tom - is that i got the glow plugs out straight away and then get all the water out and she fired but she took water in through the fuel line meaning a right ****ing pain in the ass. im holding out using it because i wanna get her back to how she was!

A friend has recently revived his Discovery after it went a little deep - not sure what he had to do fuel-wise to get it going, I think it was a bit like yours though - once the water was out it turned over fine but didn't fire. I'd second James' advice, he's not usually far off. :)

well tomorrow - a friend is round and we going to go through it all and try get the thing going - ive been told that as long as i dont rush it and get all the water out etc. if its turning over fine i should have got away with it as the engines are bullet proof - so i dont wanna be easy starting it to find that i just ****ed it!

All engines love easy start... It's like curry to a **** head!

Did you turn it over at all when it was flooded? I've always taken injectors out of a flooded vehicle rather than the glow plugs.. Bigger hole to get the water out...

Not at all as soon as the water went in it was towed home and plugs removed to release all water out! Oil checked etc as well before I started it
