Stiff tailgate on a Disco 2

What's the most common fault that will cause a stiff rear door on a Disco 2. I know that it will be fairly heavy anyway because of the wheel, but it does seem much more stiff than the other ones I have tried.

Already did the WD bit, I guess it just needs repeated application.

after you loosen it up get some oil or grease on the hinges

I use a spray on grease out here...great for getting into tight spaces with the little tube thing in the nozzle. You need to get it right into the workings and have someone open and close the door a little while applying it. Be sure to cover the bumper and carpet area while spraying. The grease attracts a lot of dust and smears along the bumper if you dont.
