any one have a clue on fittin a aftermarket stereo on d2 the harman kardon system, thanks

should be quite easy, make sure the radio your intending to fit has ISO plugs, and if possible an electric aerial feed output..

connect this aerial feed wire to the slate and green wire..which should power up the amp under the seat.
check this first, to make sure it comes live with the L/Rover radio when you switch it on..

yeah ive heard doing that on volume setting 1 is very loud??? also do u get to keep all speakers working???

yeah it would be loud, just turn in down
yes all speakers and sub woofer would work like this.
the only other way is to bypass the amp under the passenger seat, but you will loose the sub woofer this way.

do u know of such a headunit?

Sorry I don't know of any thing that's up todate :( but the usual quality manufacturers have models in their range with two or three preouts, they will be the mid to high-end range headunits.

ICE shops are always discounting these head units as not every one wants that high spec.

Look on the www will give you an idea of whats about also you will need a head unit that interfaces via patch lead with your steering-wheel controls most do but worth checking...Let us know what unit you choose.

My Pioneer-head unit has three preouts, high, mid range and bass, bass is the only output i'm using at the moment as i'm running a 200watt sub amp do like my bass.:D

so how have you got urs set up?

Well, a D1 is a bit easer to set up. I only have only four existing loudspeakers for mid range plus two tweeters for the highs all are powered directly from the head unit, my head unit allows adjustments of high, mid and low frequencies for the direct speaker connections and the three preouts.... as some do.

The head unit also powers the back door sub amp but I have made the 12v and audio supplies to the amp switchable so I can use a 12inch sub speaker in a box (amp is under the front passenger seat) to provide the sub bass, but sometimes to get the boot space back I have to ditch the speaker in a box so then I switch back to the existing back door amp/speaker.

That's about it

i have done away with my door sub and also stuck a 10" fusion sub in box and just used wires from old door sub, works ok,not as good as its own amp,...all id like to do is change stereo keep all speakers working so i can use an ipod.as i dont do cds lol,oh and i love my bass too

Just adjust your new headunits pre-amplified output gain to suit the underseat amp.

You will need a replacement headunit with at least two 'preouts' the other one will be used for the bass unit amplifier in the back door.

pre-amplified output gain to suit the underseat amp.whats the setting look like on a headunit,...??? is it loudness?:(

loudness has something to do with a volume control :)

Your head should be adjustable for bass (sub-woofer) volume in relation to the head units main volume control, sub adjustments are set via the head units firmware.
Adjustments will be volume (+ or - much like a stand LR head unit with that bass facility) the bass frequency will be your choice and what your kit can handle ie. a 50 Hz frequency and also to match your sub amps input and low pass filter, the filter can be adjustable depends on the amp but most amps are adjustable.

The manuals you will get with your head unit/sub amp will explain how to set-up.

I notice that, that also sold it for me I wouldn't want blue :)
So just plugs and sockets and a bit of adjustment and off u go, your manual must be like my Pioneer book 50 pages of info to read.

so all i have to do is plug in,splice wire from amp to head unit which will activate it,then mess about with the sttings lol, like u said alot of reading,so have i got it wright? will i keep the rear door sub?
