The stereo etc.. has a mind of it's self. Aftermarket Dynavin system fitted with bluetooth etc.. That all works fine but the sound only comes on for a few seconds when ignition is switched on and it can randomly come on and work perfectly? I suspect the boot mounted amp may be the culprit. I have investigated and cleaned a few water corroded connections. Checked all wiring at dash. Is my best bet to get another amp... just strange that there is sound but only for a few seconds or it will be fine but then not come back if switched off!?

My crystal ball suggests you might be talking about an L322. Getting water corroded connectors completely clean is not easy and pins corrode off completely making occasional contact with the remains of the pin.
However, if the connectors were wet, odds on the interior of the amp is also wet. drying it out may cure the problem.

Hi Datatek, wow your good... yep, it is an L322! Think the issue may be the same in any vehicle with a separate amp. I assume the spare wheel wall has to come out to gain access to the bottom retaining bolt on amp? Whilst your here, thanks for previous advice etc.. I can't tell much difference in the ride of my L322 compared to my P38's? The L322 still wallows around corners, suspension is all good, are my expectations too high for a FFRR to ever have good road manners, many new L322 owners not driven Classic or P38? Its a pain the L322 doesn't drop to the bump stops like my P38s... keeps the In-laws out!

LR and Citroen,
More plastic and feeble electronic devices....
Honda and Ferrari, an engine nobody would ever need to fix but if did would require a small mortgage.
Alfa hmmmmm. I agree and the JCB box.
I get your drift.... I'll stick to my '38 ;)

I loved my P38s and only moved to an L322 after owning dull and drab opposition. I needed a vehicle to tow 2.5 tonnes and do the School run! Love the L322 but can't really feel any difference in road holding? I did look at another P38 but they are getting a bit long in the tooth, never trusted my 2.5td engine and sold it before I started getting any issues... loved my late 4.0 with gas but it never got used enough to keep it as a second car plus we had had some bad Winters and prices were keen! Prices seem to be dropping on 4X4 as we get milder Winters and diesel has been sent to the naughty step! LR do seem to miss a trick with their engine choices.

Citroen is like LR, when it works, it works well! I think most comfort/drive reviews are only done from the driver's seat, as a passenger I often don't get it when my In-law bangs on about the ride of his Jaaaaaaaaag as my face gets smacked against the window as we hit another pot hole or struggle to keep the vomit down as a roller coaster passenger in the back! Its only when my Wife drives that I realise that her Peugeot is more comfortable than the RR and how oblivious I am to my passengers comfort as I Lord it over the peasants in their Euroboxes!

Poor old Jlr, they are all run by accounts and the accountant says cut the prices and unfortunately they do.. most car makers are all the same stuff now and only design sets them apart. Not so much reliability as electronic gizmos age they become less..... Rant over.

Client if mine has an xj350 sport Jag with the 2.7td goes like a lunatic. Not they like what they used to be but much more character than an xf?

Although a "bitsa" the three door and Classic rr had it right. Wish I had kept mine, worth fecking thousands now! Other than the rot, simple and tough. Yes they were kitted out with BL left overs and bits fell off or broke if made of Bakelite but they were dependable. As you say, there is too much bling and not enough substance in stuff today. Its a bit like food.... to save money you add more salt and sugar! Generation dazzled by gizmos with the attention span of a Tangerine! Rant over!

Boom, on the same page!!!

I have a little 1970 Renault R10, my daughter thinks it is hysterical that you have to wind the windows in the front and slide them in the back. Haven't broken the news to her yet that I have just bought an old Volvo as my daily driver... wind up windows.. audioline am stereo.. airbag is the dash, she will have to hide as I pull along side the new Audis and Evoque on the School run! I have hit a point in my life were I just can't be doing with more electronics. Don't get me wrong, I have made a few quid sorting other people's electrical gremlins and know my way around dpf, egr, dmf and turbos but just want the basics these days... transport with style! I know the plastic Mums and Dads all wish they had the courage to break the modern life expectations..... £299 a month lease to show you have made it in life! Me... mortgage free... self employed... don't give a toss about driving an old banger! On the QT, I will be fitting a reverse induction kit and a bigger turbo with a stage 1 re-chip the plan is to build a 400bhp sleeper with rainbow stickers and "my other car is a bicycle, because I care".

If it wallows, look at the shocks, I can hustle my P38 round corners faster than most drivers want to go, always amuses me when the bloke following attached to my rear bumper panics half way round a corner. you have to remember a 2 tonne plus vehicle with a high centre of gravity is always going to roll a good bit.
Side trim in the boot has to come out.

We have a 34 year old Renault, my 33 year old MR2 and 2 running P38's plus an old Transit. I used to design electronic systems, I wouldn't touch any of the new stuff with a barge pole, design life expectancy is just long enough to make it to the end of the warranty. The down side of our old cars is we can no longer drive to family in Paris, old cars are banned.

I could pick flowers as my old RRs went around corners at speed but never worried about them leaving the road. Our roads in Lincolnshire are sh1te, the L322 doesn't seem to soak up the bumps the way the P38 did. The L322 has less over steer but seems to dive more into corners at speed and I find myself easing off on the power. It is on standard alloys, did think about going up in size with a lower profile tyre but our pot holes will just murder them. Guess I will just have to live with it.

I working on the theory that the Parliament's Classic car club (used for opinion on things such as Classic tax etc..) will lobby to save classics, possibly pre 80s when legislation, possibly in the form of a National buy back scrappage scheme comes into affect and we all get pushed into electric cars. By which time I will either be dead or able to drive my fossil fuel pride and joy for one day a month! Older vehicles stand less chance of the exchequer pricing them off the road. My theory is that they will stick with the 2001- cut off and hit stuff pre 2001, first being diesels. I posted a comment a few months back re the demise of diesel, ruffled a few feathers.... diesel will not die! Funnily enough that night there was an interview with LR CEO about Brexit... his comment.. "more concerned with the demise of the internal combustion engine than Brexit!"
