Freelander 1 Steering wiring connector conundrum [solved]

Do any of you bright sparks (groan) know how the pins remove from the receptacles in the steering wheel horn connection? Pic attached. The horn pinouts are different between the 2005 HSE TD4 and the 1998 1.8i steering wheels and so I need to modify the 1.8i to TD4 standard.

I was hoping not to be soldering and heat shrinking.... but as yet cannot get a pin to withdraw from the receptacle.

Most connectors will de-pin.

You need a thin probe and go in at the connection end (opposite to the wire) look in you may see where the lug is and push probe down the side with the lug, the shape may give it away with a little cutaway for the probe

Thanks @marjon, I just managed that with a pin for the 1.8i wheel. Just ordered a set of terminal removal tools off Amazon to make the future easier. Working at the HSE wheel now.

Here's a pic should anyone else want to know what the insert looks like. As @marjon said, you are looking to compress a small tang to allow the insert to exit the receptacle. Wiring modified, steering assembly tomorrow. Vibration report later on @Nodge68.
