hiya,

i have a 2002 td4 3 door , have searched extensivily to try and find out what alternative steering wheels would fit onto mine, but with no joy

Does anyone know would a FL 2 wheel fit please, or is it only the freelander wheel that will fit.

My steering wheel hasnt got the radio or cruise controls, have looked on rave to see if the parts could just be bought and added to a standard steering wheel like mine, but could only see the entire wheel complete.

thanks guys

You can pick up steering wheels from land rover breakers which would be a better option than trying to get the individual pieces and budging them to your wheel.

You can buy ones for FL1's which afaik come with cruise control and radio control buttons. Apparently these can be enabled from the ECU, so you don't need to add anything else providing cruise control was available as an option when your car was built. (not sure if the earliest FL's had that as an option)

Don't forget that you have an airbag to consider too. For that reason, using a steering wheel designed for a different car might not be a good idea.

im not sure if it came as an opotion either, mine is the updated 2002 model be it the 3 door commercial version, . would it still require the switch for the cruise control on the dashboard which ive seen on some models or does the later ones omit this section.

ive only ever seen the radio control steering wheels for sale, never seen one yet with the cruise on it on ebay etc.

thanks

the whole cruise control issue is a bit of a can of worms, there's quite a few other bits you need, and then it all has to be enabled by a main stealer.

there has been a few threads, and the only ones which appear successful were those who fitted an aftermarket kit using the original controls.

As OP says CC is a bag of worms, even if it was offered on your model in the year you have. If it's not there - lots of bits missing and even wiring missing!
Aftermarket is the only way unless you are fixing a broken or reinsalling an originally fitted system and after all that you need a stealer willing to enable it all for you!

thanks guys, i think i will give that a miss sounds a nightmare , at the moment certainly dont want to create a big problem that doesnt really need doing, will like to have the radio controls, checked that out and ive got the blue wire on the back of my radio,

thanks as always guys
