Hi guys. Wondering if anyone can help. I have a 2003 Range Rover and recently the steering wheel begins to vibrate very badly. This only happens when I'm doing about 50 - 60 mph AND when I'm doing mild cornering to the left, its ok going to the right. This does not happen at slower speeds. Strange. All 4 tyres have been replaced and balanced. The front drive shaft was replaced by recall last year. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

Mileage? possible wheel bearing.

Take the wheel off and line your eye up with the edge of a wheel arch and the brake disc. Check the disc rotates in line with the wheel arch and doesn't move from the fixed point. Otherwise the wobble could cause the vibration - warped disc.

Check all the usual joints and bushes.
Harmonic Dampers etc

Does it happen on full lock at slow speed? DO you get tyre hop? Look inside the wheel rim and greasy spots will point to a failing CV joint.

Hi thanks for that. I'll go and take a look. But no the steering is perfectly fine at slow speeds. It only vibrates at 50ish mph gently turning left.

Just had a look under the car, one of the rubber seals is not dry but wet with black oil. I don't know which part it is but it's not the front diff but near it near the centre of the car. It's on the left side which surprised me because I thought it would be on the right side since the problem occurs turning left (the right side should be load bearing). Would that be the problem? Are all rubber seals (like a concertina) supposed to be bone dry on the outside?
