I agree with the possibility of it being prop shaft UJ. I had a similar problem. Is it more pronounced on deceleration?

Thank you for all your comments/advise. I removed the front off side wheel to the back and the back to the front and had the same problem, moved the front near side wheel to the back and the back to the front
and no more steering wheel shake or vibration.
Bear in mind all wheels have been balanced by two different garages and the tyre has plenty of tread could this indicate a slightly buckled wheel, should I investigate any further? as the offending wheel is on the back and all seems fine.

+1,also n/s /f wheel always gets ploughed into & up kerbs causing damage to tyre structure

as long as the tyres on the front are both the same tread pattern and worn equally it should be ok. odd tyres on front will have u all over the show
