hi all got a strange issue on my l322 range rover mine is a 2003 4.4v8 bmw car, car drives fine all the time, until i hit motorway speed i get a vibration through the car, it feels to be coming from the steering but only on right hand corners, the more i need to turn in the worse the vibration seems to get, but nothing on left hand corners, and nothing in normal ride height i only get the vibration in motorway mode i don't drive a lot on the motorway currently but will be doing a lot more next year so need to get the car right, any ideas what it could be?

had this vibration a while, wheel alignment is ok, had new tyres about 2 months ago and wheels were all balanced but these problems exsisted before any of that was done, all the steering joints are ok, and have had new anti roll bar links fitted recently

no noise, just the vibration as above it's very minor on a slight right hand bend, but the more steering i apply the worse the vibration gets, only does it in motorway mode, have taken right hand bends at 70 before motorway mode engages and it is ok, nothing on left turns though would of thought bushes would of shown on left turns as well

just checked wheel bearings and suspension bushes and i can't find any play anywhere in anything (checked both sides) rotated the front wheels on full lock to check for noise from the cv joints whilst the wheel is turning and both are quiet, now coupled with this issue i have a slight pull to the left at normal road speeds, and sometimes at normal speed after a left manouvre i need need to turn the wheel to the right to almost 2 o'clock to correct the car into a straight line, i may be barking up the wrong tree here but are there rubber bushes on the steering rack mounts on the l322, or possibly anti roll bar bushes?

You most likely will not feel a duff wheel bearing unless you take the brake caliper off.

i used a long bar under the tyre to check for up/down movement but will check again with caliper off
You need to rock the hub, even then you may not find much if any movement. There was no detectable movement when the last hub bearing went on my Transit, bearing out, the race was severly pitted.

ok i'll give it an extra check, although this issues has been present for around 12,000 miles since i've had the car and god knows how long before, but as i never do much motorway work i was waiting for it to get worse to find the problem, but unfortunately it hasn't but i would of thought a wheel bearing would have failed in that sort of mileage.

on further inspection i have noticed the steering rack is not in it's centre position when the wheels & steering wheel are straight, but lower column was replaced before i bought the car so possibly not aligned propperly then when i had it tracked it's thrown it out, but rack think's it's constantly turning approx 15 degrees to the right when going straight so could be effecting other things so i think first port of call is to get this corrected.

Yep, all has to be centred, there has been a previous post on just this problem.
