hi everyone
ive been told to drain the oil in the swivels and repack with grease

if this is the preferred option would a standard lithium
grease be ok
to fill the swivels do you need to turn the steering lock
many thanks

The one shot grease you buy for the swivels is thinner than the lithium CV joint grease you get from car shops but having said that I ran fer ovver a year with CV joint grease in me swivels an when alls said an done all yer swivels are are CV joints so I'd go fer it. It meks life easier if get hold of a biggish syringe to squirt the grease in. I'd bung a small amount of gear oil in there fost so the bottom taper roller bearing runs in oil, if you don't put to much in it won't reach the seals and leak out.

Wot dyer mean turn the steering lock? If you want to get at the filler an drain holes then you'll have to take yer wheels off an angle the hubs round so as you can get at em.

If you've got a late defender you might not be able change the grease as they're filled for life, have a check, you should have a filler, level and drain plug on the housing. Mine is a later type and only has a filler plug.

Deffo worth buying the one shot grease sachet if it's an early one as they're only about a fiver each.

It's like a fluid moly grease.
