Hello,
I have a defender 1986 12j engine, when the engine is running, the pulley on the steering pump appears to be rattling, I don't know how serious this will get, trying to avert looming trouble. Is it the pump that I will soon be replacing or its just some parts in the steering pump like a bearing or some other? If its just some parts, could anyone please assist with instructions on how to do it. So far I have done some repairs on other things myself like changing shock absorbers and ball-joints and would really like to sort this head-on but don't know how to. Please help.

Hi, assuming that the bolts holding the pulley to the pump are tight, then you will be best of replacing the pump. They are relatively cheap and easy to fit. Search for paddock motor spares they have a vast range of land rover parts. They also post worldwide, I'm sure you will find a thread on here to aid fitting.
