Hi everyone. Does anyone know how to get the steering relay out of a series 3. (109" 2 1/4 petrol)
I think I have unbolted everything but it looks like it is rusted into the cross member. How on earth do I get it out?
Thanks

Sometimes they are hard work, I have had to heat them up, also have had the full front end jacked up with wheels off the ground and still doesn’t budge, You might have to do it in stages, get some penetrating oil seeping through for a while and have another go

Thanks guys, it is undone (the four bolts on the bottom) although there are another 4 bolts, I assume to strip it down.
It is weird it is rusted solid. will try the penetrating oil thing over the next couple of days, I've been at it all afternoon with a blow torch, hammer and penetrating oil! :) oh what fun!!

I'll try it with Brake fluid. Does it really work better than penetrating fluid?
So has anyone "not' been able to remove it? what's the last alternative, to rebuild it in situe?
Oh and thanks for all your help, it's great to benefit from your combined expertise!

As v8 shaun says BE FOOKIN CARFUL if you split it, still not found one of the bushes out of one i stripped down!!

jack it up with the relay so the wheel are of the ground, soak it in wd and walk away leaving the wheels in the air. Then with the jack underneath hit the chassis on top (so you have the weight of the motor helping as well).

Good luck.
