ive just started noticing a bit of steering noise on turning the wheel. I've also noticed that a left turn the steering wheel turns almost twice around where as a right turn only one and a half turns. What could be causing this? The power steering fluid is full.

Not sure about the noise, can you describe it? As for the difference in turns the steering has probably been setup with the steering box not centred. There's a slot on it where a bolt can be inserted when it IS centred so that the wheels can be aligned by adjusting the steering bar length. Suspect the steering wheel's probably also been reseated on the splines.

Where is it coming from? Under the bonnet or outside? Listen with window open/closed. Under the bonnet could be UJs or steering box, outside means swivel pin bearing.
Is the wheel centred when going in a straight line?
My D1 makes a groaning noise when the vinyl on the wheel and dash rub against each other.

The wheel is centred and seems fine driving, the only time I notice it is turning seems Rubbish when tight turning right and the groan happened when stationary and I was seeing what made the noise

The steering box adjustment has to be set whilst in the central position, so as bennehboy says, check that first by making sure the drop arm is lined up. Then adjust the drag link so the wheels point ahead, then remove and refit steering wheel.

Take a look at your bump stops. They do have a rubbish turning circle (more like a turning semi-circle) so if it's OK going left the right bump stop might be too far in or even fallen out.
I wouldn't worry too much if groaning only happens when stationary. Chances are it's just the tyre scrubbing against the ground.
But do check the drop arm as well.
