Hi,

After scraping through the MOT on brake efficiency and brake balance (and remembering how 'agricultural' S3 brakes are on the drive to the MOT centre!), I've been reading all of the threads about brake upgrade, fitting disco axles etc in order to bring it up to date a bit more, and if possible improve the pretty appalling turning circle!

It looks like either you have to go down the replacement axle route (which is a lot of work), or stump up cash for RM / Heystee conversion kits.

From looking at Heystee's site, their kit also allows you to use defender CVs, replacing the UJs in the series swivels. I mailed Heystee and they said that this is primarily for running full time 4x4, and they've not tested it to see if this would also allow more steering lock...

So - the question is - is the steering angle limited by the swivel, or is it limited by the UJ within the swivel? I've got the stops adjusted on mine, with higher offset modular rims I am at the limit of how far the wheel will physically go but still a few inches off touching any chassis...

Any ideas? :)

Cheers

Jon

I'm not handy, but luckily my Dad is very handy :D

I've read the threads on here about swapping them, is yours mounted with the diff nose up avoiding all of the caster issues and having to redrill the swivels?

Could you get away with doing this on a standard setup - you mentioned that your engine + box sit higher because of the V8?
