LR90 200tdi good nick but.:
Out today and the steering needs corrected all the time. So if travelling at 50, correct to right, need to correct to left, basically like one of those old films where they move Steering wheel constantly. Slight noise if stationary and play with steering wheel...my guess, steering box is sticking. Views pls boys (and girls). Ta K

as related, ill post here. My steering was all messed and had all the joints changed, inc track rod which was bent. As well as the steering pump.

However, last few weeks while its been cold (obviously) my steering at start up seems stuck. I have to force it a little to allow it to move freely. This is only ever on a cold start. Is there a chance things are freezing around joints? but aint they all oil, and hence dont freeeze? anyone has similar issues?

My power steering is dodgy as well, same problem as you - steering is stiff at first but loosens up once you give it some force. Makes a bit of a funny noise when turning the wheel at low speeds too. It doesn't bother me too much though, it's fine once rolling.

Odenne, you have problems!!!
Apart from that, It sticks but no major force to free up although it is the speed (50) bit that is worrying. Drop arm joint looks ok as does the rest of steering area. On further examination, noise is when turning left, not right, sounds like grating and my ear is drawn towards steering box but steering dampner is another culprit. Keep it coming guys, thanks

well my joints are all brand new, and still doing it. only thing not replaced is steering box and the damper.

Langers is your landy left outside? or snug in garage.

Got car down to garage today but will not be look at until tomorrow. He confirmed his suspicion is steering box but will come back to you 2moz

Ruddefender, I feel like a right plonker. My issue turned out not to be steering box or any other of my suspicions. In fact, my steering guard had moved slightly whilst offroading (somehow!!!) and was catching the drop arm in the middle, hence the requirement to correct left and right. Sorry, mate, prob does not help you, good luck

lol, any damaged caused?

I have found, that waiting for the steering fluid to warm up, once starting the engine has helped me out. Is it normal to turn the engine on, then wait a little, say 30 seconds for the steering to fluid to start pumping around and everything to get a little warm?

SOUNDS LIKE CHEAPY CHEAP SOLLUTION - MOVE THE GUARD, no pennies? bet your well happy right :)

No damage caused and cheap to sort, albeit embarassing!!!

Not sure about steering fluid getting through system but if it is helping then who care. I hate to say it but is sounds like things are not right somewhere. My buddy tells me you can tighten the box but I would need to find out how and get back to you if it helps. Either way, good luck, cheers, Keith

yeah look fwd to hearing from ya. I was told my box leaks ( sure oil is around area, but the level seems to be keeping at right level) and that a little bite is warn in there somewhere.

jack up both front wheels, on steering box there is lock nut and adjuster tighten it and as you do check from lock to lock. when you have a happy medium lock it off
