I'm looking at fitting a steering guard onto my 110. She's only really used for gentle greenlaning and driving rough tracks when camping and fishing. Couple of quick questions:

1 Is this an appropriate form of protection for her - or would other items such as diff fuards be best bought first?

2 Prices (new) seem to go from £50 to £150 - is there any big difference in quality, and does it matter for light use?

3 Are the older bar type better than the newer type - as I can get one of these cheaper?

Thaks in advance!

As you can see from the attached pic.... your diffs are most at risk. Diff gaurds are not expensive.... think I paid about £50 for the Rebel one piece steering gaurd last summer. Rebel 4x4 website is worth a look.
You can get alloy steering gaurds and as you say pay over £100... for what you want the Rebel one will be good... get the one with the towing eyes as it make life easier if you get stuck.

Top one...£49.50p... Steering Guards, Diff Guards & Jate Rings for Land Rover Defender / 90 / 110 / Series II / Series III

May I be the first to say FFS do a search:D

I think a lot of folk will tell you for what your doing you don't need either.

However, steering guards look cool, so buy one that fits your budget and enjoy:D

IMHO, for the novice driver, I think they could help avoid damage when you ram into a big log or boulder because your not driving like an experienced old hand:doh:

I'd just go for HD rods to be honest.'not going to cost too much and replaces old parts with new, especially if u get new ends an all. 2 birds 1 stone that way.
