ok, my steering damper has gone from roundtuit to doitnow...

Been looking, and an OEM damper is less than £20 (and get "other" ones for about £12, but not going there)
Something like the terrafirma ones are about £40

Im not looking for RTC, just a replacement for my old one, so is there any reason to go for the £40 one when the OEM has been fine for the last 140K?

bling factor, aint bothered, you can't see it behind the steering guard anyhoo, and function before form for most stuff for me :)

PS, everything else has been checked, took one end of the damper off last night to have a looksee, and it just doesnt...

I got this one from LR Direct.

Haven't fitted it yet, but it seems really decent for the price actually

I guess For that Price if you don't/rarely go off roading OEM would be fine. cheap enough to not begrudge changing it and good enough not to have to change it again next week.... just my 2p worth ;)

I used to work at a firm that built Litchfield Land Rovers, we fitted Bilstien and decarbon steering dampers, TBH I think the standard damper was just as good and a few times we had steering issues that we solved with a factory damper. Perhaps the standard damper is cheaper because of volume.

Just keep yer thumbs outta the spokes then:D

its not the whipping round thats bothering me, its the go over a bump n it tries to chuck me into the hedge (or in the motorway yest, the next lane, with a shudder to finish :p )

Armstrong seem to have the same damping as the cheaper aftermarket ones (after much googling), so OEM it is I think
