Hi Guys
Have just replaced the top bearing (not the best quality) on my steering column outer, this time i used a press to locate it (the first one failed miserably). Now the bearing is seated and free spinning..... However when i put it over the steering drive shaft it is a VERY tight fit from the moment it touches the first chamfer, Does this mean i have to tap it on to drive it down the shaft (approx 4 inches ) or am i missing something
If this is not to clear i will add a picture in the morning
thanx

I seem to remember that there have been others with this problem: a faulty batch of Britpart bearings?? Perhaps others will know...

I found the thread I was thinking of, it seems that a certain "Ramraider" was having the identical problem... You?
yes mate this was me back in May when i tried and it did not work out, so i left it for a while and here i am with the same issue.
i bought the bearings months appart to make sure i did not get one from the same batch. But , here i am with this thread yet again
