Was trundling through Arborfield, Berkshire on Friday and spotted a RR Sport heading the other way done out in matt/satin black with what looked like red pinstriping details. Now I'm not a huge Sport fan, but this did look very cool!

And just the other day I saw Kate Beckinsale soaping her tits in the shower but I didn't get a picture so you'll just have to imagine that too...

A bit of searching found several people knocking out matt black custom models. Harman have the Conquerer, Platinum do one, and there's another called the Revere. The one I saw looked even blacker than these two, very Distaster Area.

I looked into this after my rangie got key'd, costs about £1500 to have the car 'wrapped' in matte/satin wrap, it isn't paint. Unfortunately it needs redoing ever couple of years and if you want inside seals and joints done it more expensive still.

If you are considering it, go for the 3M wrap, its reported to be the highest quality and doesn't peel or shrink as much as some others.

I think it can look pretty cool, but there is an increasing number of chavs in novas with it so it may rapidly turn into the latest chav must have car fashion thus rendering it the worst thing possible to do to your beloved rangie. At least it can be peeled off though!

According to the write-ups on at least two of these, it's definately paint, not a wrap.

Matt finish is very popular here in Germany; that and de-badging the cars so you don't know what engine or trim it is. I remember seeing an X6 (erm, with Gemma Artherton who was changing in the back seat but I didn't get a pic!) like that recently looked cool and the army here does a kind of matt olive. In most cases its definitely paint.
