statistic ! what makes you own a range rover ?

Cos when I was younger I had a dream that I owned a blue one(a classic that is) and the dream was so real that when I woke up and realised that I did,nt I was gutted and promised myself that I would own one some day .Unfortunatly I had to wait longer than I thought but it was worth it as I now have two one for greenlaning and one for best.Who says dreams dont come true !!!!!!!
 
God, Aerialmark, you left yourself wide open with that post. Everyone must be asleep or giving this thread a miss. I've seen members sent into darkened rooms, nodding in the window for such idealistic posts such as yours. You've truly had a miraculous escape...................there's still time, though. Living here in Portugal where they have the highest death toll per 100km of road in Europe the safty side really rides high in my opinion. Even bus drivers get out of my way:D

I'VE GOT 4 RANGE ROVERS , MATE !!
NOTE : I LOVE PORTUGAL HE HAS THE SAME NATURE LIKE LEBANON .. AND I WAS THERE WITH MY FAMILY WHEN I WAS 18 ... IT'S REALLY GREAT ..

I wasn't meaning "you" drive one and find out, it was meant to be just a generlization :cool: for those who haven't had the good fortune yet.

Because I can put 4 kayaks on the roof, 4 adults inside and all the gear and camping kit, head off to a mad river for a nutty weekend and drive back in luxury.

I have mine converted to LPG so in terms of cost it is now pretty reasonable and it is the ONLY car I have driven that meets all my needs.

1/ Turn up to meetings and get there in comfort and arrive relaxed having driven my armchair!

2/ Take my wife out shopping (lots of room needed!)

3/ Play hard kayaking, rock climbing camping all requires space for boys toys.

So in a nutshell I own it for the space it provides, that or a van...

Safety devices full length roof rack is a must have item.
 
3.9V8Auto on Gas; pretty much the universal motorcar.
With 'dickie' in the boot, its a people mover; a family estate car; an exectuve saloon; builders'/ farmers 'hack', AND it's fun off road!
Dirt cheap to buy; mine cost less than £500, taxed, tested & gassed; Even cheaper to run; all parts are (usually) cheaply available new or 2nd hand; and it's 'duplo' mechanics to work on them. Tax & Insurance are 'reasonable'; fuel, at 45p/l cheaper than running a little hatch-back!
Doesn't have the charisma of my old Series III...... but then it has windows that open, doors that close, and a sterio you can hear..... Oh and air con!
After spending silly amounts of money on that SIII and NOT getting close to making it move faster than overweight district nurses on thier push-bikes; drinking too much juice, spilling too much oil, or shaking your fillings out.... I looked at the Rangie I had bought for the V8 and 'box, and though 'sod it' lets just fix the Rangie and use that! And not looked back since!
Mind, the old SIII WAS better on the rough stuff, and FAR more fun to drive...... at least in small doses, any way!

but seriously as boydonegood says what else can you buy ( £3400.00) that holds the same presence on the road , and when its well behaved , which is most of the time now is a dream to drive :D

once read you will have a rangie for either 2 months or forever .... says it all.
 
hmmm, why do I own a Range Rover.

Its my uncles fault, he has always had them, well, actually, both my uncles have always had them but my dad never had one because he thinks a car is something to get you from A to B and nothing else, hence he drives a Volvo.

In truth though, I always loved them right from when I was young and when I got my job in IT I could buy my dream vehicle basically. So as said above I have more money, well, not quite enough, but enough, lol, than sense!!

I also enjoy having a toy that I can play with and tinker with constantly. Before I had my P38 I knew NOTHING about vehicles really and couldnt of possibly told you how to change the oil on a vehicle... now, I have no problem with tearing into it, stripping things down and putting it all back together again. Its taught me so many things and as such I do most work on my P38 (and my Renault Clio) myself now. Its caused me to spend lots on tools and equipment so I can work on it.

Other than that, I love its looks, its height, its a practical vehicle for me as I have a bad leg so I can get in and out easily, oh, and, as previously said it ALSO annoys my next door neighbors :D

To be honest I dont actually know how I managed to make myself buy one after seeing all the posts about how they go wrong in so many ways but once you own one you will know why you love em!!
