i'm after either a diesel or small steam stationary engine if anyone has a cheapie for sale ?

what you going to sit at the steam rallies watching everyone walk by and not bothering to look at yer redundant machinery (or is it just so you get free entry to all the shows
probably a bit of both but there again I dont need to take trewey out shooting with me so I can hit a targetget a ****in life!

You're much more likely to find a petrol Lister than anything diesel or steam.

A local guy had a couple of small engines and a water pump for sale recently but they needed work. I dont know if he still has them. Scottish Borders, maybe too far away, would need a trailer. I can PM his e-mail address if you want.

try farm auctions. we go to them all within a 50 miles of me. we have had loads through our shop in the past two years.

A guy I used to work with used to power his saw bench using a peugeot 205 diesel which had a front wheel jacked off he ground and had the belt around it. He used to chuck it in gear and let it just tick over.

I've got an ancient Briggs and Stratton one - got it when i was v. little, started it up, it all went bang, snapped con rod, killed piston, etc.
So stripped it then realised the only place i could get a piston and rings from was America at 3 x the price of the engine.
It's sat ever since. I keep thinking one day i'll get a piston and finish it. It's only been waiting 15 years so far
