Morning!

I need some chassis welding on the cross member under the floor roughly in the position of the rear axle (see pic).

It was suggested that I need to get the tub off to get proper access but I was wondering if I could take up the floor in the back to get the access I need so was looking to see if anyone else has done it?

There seems to be a lot of rivets or pins with collars (screwed in?) going through to 3 other "cross members" underneath the floor and it looks like I'll need to take the rear seats out but is there anything else I need to look out for?

Cheers,

Mo

I haven't repaired the cross member your on about but when I rebuilt my 110 I replaced the floor it's riveted to the cross braces underneath and bonded , also think ( but not sure) that it's spot welded along the rear door it's definitely bonded at the back and the step bit at the front ,and the 2 nd row seat belt anchors go through the floor and the cross brace underneath these were rusted to hell when I did mine and you need to remove them ended up cutting them off then found out they were not cheap . What you may need to think of is will you have enough room to get in with grinders and other tools would be a right ####### to take the floor out then find out you can't get in properly .

Thanks @Ian Maycock . After I posted this I found another forum with some info and this pic:

The blue circled bit is the xmember in question. Looks like good access for the top of it which is where the trouble is!

Are the spot welds you mentioned where I've circled red?

It looks like that cross brace runs over the cross member, but no they are at the back were the door closes and at the front by the seats.

A mate who did his CSW recently. To gain acsess to that member the rear crossmember bolts were removed and the body jacked up just enough for clearance. At the front other attachments were freed off to allow a little movement including the screen frame at the bulkhead.Tank was allready out.
