Hello everyone, my first post in the Disco forum and unfortunately its about a starting problem.
First its a 96 300tdi auto, 87000 on the clock. shortly after i got it, 9 months ago, it went into the garage for a service and the starter motor went. that was replaced and for a few months all was well. then one night i tried starting it and the starter just whirred and refused to stop until it died.
another new starter was fitted and again all was well for a few months. then one morning i turned the key, the heater plugs and dashboard display lit up but then the next turn resulted in a click and nothing else.
the garage diagnosed the starter, replaced it under warranty and another month of trouble free motoring followed.
then last monday it refused to start again, then when the garage came to collect it it did start. they diagnsed the problem to be the battery. all was well until this morning when it refused to start again.
i'm losing faith in the garages ability to correctly diagnose the problem.
anyone got any ideas?
