Have you tried fillin the fuel tank up?? the idea being that, the extra fuel could give the pump a bit of assistance, and you aint spent loads o money to try it??? i think willo had a similar problem with the pump once and i remember reading someone else couldnt start the car if it had under half a tank full.

ITS mechanical , but the reason i keep on bout the rear pump is bout two years ago i had poor starting ,it would start after a time ,this carried on for about two weeks, people lookin at the motor didn't have a clue, then one day it just stopped ,and just would not start, rac bloke came out checked most things ,was about ta tow me and wallah it started,it did this to me three times once at 3rd lane on a motorway,no power steering all three lanes packed[stain on my leathers] however the last time it died completely got towed to a very good independent, who had seen the problem before, the rear pump has a strainer ,that gets all clogged with ****e and the pump go's weak or kaput, and cos of the height difference tween that and the lift pump[its a crap design] it can cause problems , if your mechanic could make a fuel header before the lift pump you could then see if that is the fault ,think it was about 120 pounds for the pump, just a thought. . . .:)
