Hello,

I'm new here so please be gentle with me !!!!

I'm hoping to buy a Range Rover DT 2.5 Deisel

I've had a look around this Forum but can't find the exact answer

My problem is that when you switch on the ignition you have to wait until the Glow Plug goes out, Then switch the ignition off again and then turn it on again and wait for the Glow Plug symbol to go out before it starts

My question is Is this normal ??

If not could the repair be expensive ????

Many Thanks for your help in advance

If it needs two turns on the plugs - either the Plugs are fecked or there are split spill pipes (these interlink the injectors - if they are split, air can be drawn into the fuel system and it may take two runs of the In Tank Pump to expell all the air, before the injectors get good diesel flow!!)

:welcome2: btw....

EDIT: Delphi Glow Plugs about £7 each from Island 4x4 (no affiliation just a satisfied customer) you'll need 6 obviously!!

Introduction first if you would be so kind.

Is it a Classic or a P38? If the latter, you need new glow-plugs. Don't buy cheap.

As the others have said, glowplugs need replacing. Delphi, Beru, Bosch, NGK etc but not cheapos off Ebay.
Failure of the in tank pump may also cause difficult starting but I would bet on the plugs.

Good Evening All !!
First off can I please apologise for not introducing myself first !!!!
I was so excited about getting my 1st Range Rover I forgot the protocol

I’ve been wanting one for about 20 years but have never been in the position to afford one
This has now changed and at last I’ve bought one all be it not the newest of models

It’s a P Reg 2.5 DT Diesel in Blue

There are a few little things that need doing but you’d expect this on a car of this age

Thanks for your advice so far I’m sure I’ll be on here lots more looking for help

So you've bought it then? Great!

Welcome. Clearly a man of taste getting a diesel. Read Datatek's and Wammer's (and lots of others) posts.

Lots of people are sniffy about how slow they are. Again, read the posts. There is a lot of pedal travel. Use it and you will be surprised how quickly a little 2.5 litre diesel can shift over 2 tons!

:welcome2: I to have waited a long time for my P38 diesel and have now got one on a 95 plate. I to had the same problem and found the blank end on the last injecter was split replaced it and had no probs starting since. Hope you enjoy your range rover as much as I do.

Good Evening
