Hi from a wet and windy UK!
The FPR lower bolt can be awkward to get to and I've seen posts saying you can get at it through a gap in the wheel arch.
Just a thought,
Griff

Thanks for that Griff - I will certainly bear that in mind - thank you! Previous experience, forum advice (Landyzone most definitely included!), right tools (and parts) for the job, perseverance, and, can I say, a lift rather than jack stands (I have a "pot" and find it rather claustrophobic under a car with just jack stands!) make the difference: wish I had a proper garage and workshop and car lift! Can't sleep - it's been hot today (2:00am here - I just got up and went downstairs and went onto the laptop)! Cooler tomorrow - 21 degCel (70 Fahrenheit)! Thank God for that! Don't knock Scottish/English/Welsh/Irish weather - too much heat makes your brain look your ball-sack!:D

Just wondered about the solenoid plunger - should I smear it with a bit of engine oil? Solenoid was a bit oily/dirty - so all cleaned up and contacts replaced (they were definitely worn out - don't expect the coating of dirty oil helped). How does the oil get in there in the first place? Should I lubricate the new plunger then? All assembled and ready to go back in the vehicle, but just wanted to be sure.

Also, does any one know what's the purpose of the rubber tubes coming from the solenoid and the starter motor?

Now that starter solenoid (overhauled using X8R kit and cleaned) and starter (cleaned) are all good, I'm still wondering:

Does any one know what is the purpose of the rubber tubes coming down from the solenoid and the starter motor? Drain tubes?

Just waiting on a 1/4" ratchet 6" long wobble socket extension before I tackle the FPR job. Was part of an online order I placed mid-December for a few things - still waiting and almost February; they said they were waiting for more stock!!!
