An exchange starter will be able £90 after the old unit surcharge is refunded.

Fitting isn't tricky. Just be careful removing the wires and wrap them in tape to insulate them while removeing and replaceing starter. That way you don't have to disconnect the battery and loose radio codes etc.

I have been offered 3 types of Starter to be supplied and installed.
Bosch at £230, Chinese £170, and rewind at £150, but the starter is
still going but lazy, and hiccups 1 in 3 starts, if i don't change till it
gives up completely, can i do any damage.

BTW its the original starter on the Landy

I've been offered a new VALEO starter motor at £170 fitted, so I am going to wait till this one packs up all together then replace with the VALEO.

Thanks for your help

Do you off road? Because they fill up with water and mud.
Changed mine last year on the 200Tdi done it again this year. Each time it was the solenoid, just clean that but i did take the whole starter apart and clean out the muck from around the wires, gentle with the windings but can all be done and saves pounds!!:) Now i have a spare just going to do the same to that then kept ready.
Also check your earth.

You don't but did the last owner? Unless you owned from new. Could still just be crap inside worth a look as if its like mine no seals any where thats why it gets in.

No I am responsible for all the crap on the landy I was the second owner after a lady owner who had it from new no off roading
