Should be going at some point in my 200 disco with a mate in his modified 90 that has HD springs and is running 235 85s etc etc.
I however, been a student, so inherently poor meaning I'm still saving up to get some HD springs and some bigger mud tires.
I do however have quite a bit of offroad experience so I'm not completely daft, but would tackling stanage edge in the disco on standard springs and 205s be doable or will I just get stuck half way and die as so to speak?

Cheers guys.

You'll be fine ... ;)

Loads of threads on this exact subject ... ;)

as has been mentioned you shouldnt have a problem, i did it on an early series II with 235/70 colway mts and a pretty low clearance, so you should have no problems if you take the right line

Cheers, for the replies guys. This also sounds silly, but how exactly do you get to it? I keep seeing it, but never any way to actually get onto it. Where does one get on?

cant remember to be honest mate i just followed the bloke in front. as i remember the bottom comes out at a carpark. if you are looking at the carpark towards the lane instead of driving up the lane (its frowned upon) take the road that bends to the right of the lane. follow that until you get to a t junction and chuck a left. follow that road until you reach what i seem to remember as a staggered crossroads. at that point take the left signposted redmires reservoirs. at the top chuck another left - its a t junction again and you are basically following around the reservoirs - these are all pretty minor roads. once you have gone left there you are at the top of the reservoirs. as i remember it just follow that and it will eventually turn into the lane which you can then drive down, eventually reaching the carpark.

like i say though thats from memory and i have only been there the once so you may well be able to get a more detailed and accurate set of directions fromm someone else

Also, since the west end is flipping miles from where I live (the east is very close), is it worth going from east end or will I just meet oncoming traffic?

i think its is generally accepted that you go from the east. i think it is east anyway, my mind map is telling me it is - either way there is an unwritten rule of sorts in place meaning its frowned upon to go up the lane - so instead go "top to bottom" so to speak - i.e from the top of the reservoirs to the bottom

yea that sounds right

you got an os map of the area? if not it might be worth getting one - will open up a tonne of lanes for you!

Fair enough then, so just turning onto it from the road that becomes snakes pass before you get to the big ladybower reservoir?

That's right.

Have you got Memory map or a paper OS map?
