Hi all well finally took the plunge and swopped the engine in our 2.5 dse 1996 auto after the advice I got on here about the fip and not having to swop fip's over if they had the same number. So just one question when you look at the plastick wiring loom box that is bolted to the engine the one the fip plugs into, on the left hand side of it there are two black plugs one goes to the front sensor in the head and the other goes to the bottom of the pump does anyone know which is which as my labels I put on got covered in oil and now I can't tell which say what. The engine started after three or four 30 second cranking attempts and after bleeding fuel ran like a dream but if you don't put your foot on the brakes when putting it into gear it stalls. Could that be plug wires on the wrong sensors? Any help would be much appreciated cheers

One goes to the IAT sensor under the front of the manifold the other goes to the timing solenoid under back of injection pump. One to IAT sensor has two wires, one Blue with a white tracer and one Brown with a green tracer. Other plug to timing solenoid has two wires one Red with a White tracer and one Black. Stalling when put into gear is usually a quantity servo fault. What is the idle speed. Should be 750 RPM plus or minus 50 RPM. You need a Nanocom on it to check EDC system.

Change sensors temp gauge now OK and the stalling when puting into gear has also stopped. Will the injectors be the same cause the one with the wire has a grey end and my old one has a black one and the groove is to the side and not in the middle so had to file it off. Saying that seams to idle and run OK.
