Good morning,
I'm slowing buying lots of bits for my TD5 to assist with a remap; ive read on the forum lots of good advice and things to buy, ALLI oversized intercooler; straight through pipe; KnN Air filter; EGR blank and finally off to ALIVE for the remap, has anybody ever heard of changing the exhaust down pipe with de cat also? just wondering.
Many thanks in advance.

Yes I think so; I thought i have read it somewhere that it helps or has to be done, i could be wrong so thought id ask if anybody else had done it.
If it's a NO ill leave it on..
Cheers,

Although Not something I have loked at there seems to be lots and lots of bad press regarding the knN air-filters depending on the usage conditions. So it may be worth doing a little more research into them before swapping out the original to ensure it is actually the oute you want to go down.

Decat helps the turbo spool faster basically. A few companies do decat pipes with dummy cats if youre worried. Keep the old one anyway

Though ive not had one on either of my fenders for 7 years and never had an issue but that was before new MOT rules.

Same from the EGR, blank it but leave in place if youre worried. Could slip some thing plates in between the ports. Though after speaking to a couple testers they arnt worried either unless your car is way over emissions. They are "landy friendly" garages not like ks Kwik Fit that would fail a landy on one of its factory quirks.

As for the KnN filter unless youre going for very heavy tuning i wouldnt bother and stick with the paper filter which flows enough air for mild tunes.

Thanks so much for the new answers, as soon as my ALLI intercooler arrives I'll fit it and make my mind up what to do.. Cheers

Thank you for your replies; the down pipe and EGR are staying.
I have removed my EGR with a kit from Alisport and have had no problems passing a MOT. My 90 also had a service at Foley last week and they recommended removing the CAT, I asked about MOT and they said it would still pass. I will be doing mine next.

I have de cat and egr bypass on my 16p D2

Went straight through MOT last month no questions asked.

The cat creates some what of a noise and flow restriction, plus to swap it out come MOT time is a few bolts.

My old focus ST225 had a de cat, mot tester failed it for the missing cat, same MOT centre and tester testing my discovery 2 (the same week) and not a peep as the older 10p engine didn’t have a cat

My MOT garage (indi landy garage) told me he had failed a Dico 2 for no CAT or EGR a few days before he passed my TD5. He also rang me to say mine would not pass as one headlight leveller motor was not working, (I knew it was not working but did not know it was in the new MOT rules), I asked him to put a new motor on and he passed it. Headlights were okay otherwise just the electric level adjuster was not operating. It has to work if fitted. Mine passed every MOT like that until this years rule change. But he was good and did not fail it, he just rang to tell me it would not pass like that.

As mentioned above it looks like it depends on your MOT guy, if they apply the new rules its a straight fail, some look as though they are turning a blind eye to it others applying the new rules, might also depend on age of the Landy or if engine has been changed etc. Glad you got yours through.
Edited post as noticed reference to year.
