Stage 2 intercooler. What next? Suggestions...

I am just about to fit a stage 2 Allard int. IS there anything else to tweak or shall I leave well alone. I do not need a fire breathing smoking beast. Just a mild perf boost.

Have you de-catted the exhaust downpipe??

I have just done this on mine and it made a noticeable improvement in performance and economy.

Doesn't normally have any bad effects on exhaust gases or Contrôle Technique, but mine is being done on tuesday, so I'll let you know.

In Switzerland, do you have the exhaust gases checked or, is it mandatory to have a cat?

In France and England you just have to pass an emissions test, it is not obligatoire to have a cat.

Morning Dave. I too am almost blissfully happy in Switzerland. We have incredibly tough exhaust emissions here in CH. We also have the toughest MOT in which you can be failed for dirt under the car, and any sign of oil at all.
So the cat must stay. I have a K&N and have blanked the egr. Let me know how it goes for you.

Hi John, thanks for your response. I knew that CH is a "clean" country, but I wasn't sure if your CT/TUV checked the actual inclusion of a cat, or just the efficiency and cleanliness of the exhaust gases - do you know??

I believe I will get a results slip showing the analysis of the exhaust gas on mine next week, so if you are interested I will post it on here and perhaps you can compare that with CH requirements.

I only mention this as I've been told by people who should know, that the cats (not really cats actually) on Disco1's only ever worked for the first couple of years in service, after that they perform no useful function at all, just restrict the exhaust gases impairing engine performance.

That is interesting about cats only living a couple of years. It would be useful to check your data against the RULES of CH. All the best. John
