What cause some this red light to come on.

I can clear it be restarting the engine, and it doesn’t come on so often, but don’t understand why it can come and go, either there is a fault, or there isn’t...?

Could be a wiring issue under one of the front seats, do you move the seats back and forward often?
Check the yellow cables underneath the seat, they are connected to the seat belt tensioners, might be a slack plug or a chaffed wire.
Rotary coupler on the steering wheel could be another contender.

A dicky connection somewhere i would think. If your car has seat bags check yellow the connectors under the seats. But NOT with ignition turned on. If you have electric seats moving them can loosen the connectors.

The SRS (Supplimentary Restraint System) on the D2 is largely a "stand alone" system comprising of just 5 major units:-
  • Two air bags, Driver and Passenger
  • Two pre-tensioners, one each on the front seats seatbelt buckles
  • The DCU which contains the accelerometer to detect a sudden stop and also the fault detection circuits.
The two areas which can give rise to problems are either the rotary coupler on the steering column which connects the system to the driver's airbag in the steering wheel hub or one of the two connectors under the front seats which connect the system to the pre-tensioners.
A Nanocom can give you an indication of where the fault might lie, but altogether the information from the DCU is fairly limited.

Hi All I have a similar problem. I have a freelander 2004 td4 and my srs light won't light up when I turn the ingnition position 2.

Can someone might know what it is the problem?

Thanks

I attached a photo. It's supposed to be near the TC light. It is not turning on. They have failed me from mot because of it. I can't understand what's happening.

I can't understand what's happening.
Even though you didnt understand that you are on the wrong forum either i'm 99% convinced that the warning was blanked with tape or killed some other way by the PO cos maybe it was on and he didnt bother to fix the fault or if you saw it previously and it ceased to come on then the problem is with the instrument pack... but i insist for the last time and will not reply again: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/land-rover-freelander.9/

Hi, here is a picture from the workshop manual with a brief description of some things you can check or get checked (you or 'they' must know what they are doing) PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT.
As @sierrafery says please re-post this question in the Freelander section not on this Discovery section, that way you'll get more information on this & any future problems. Hope this helps.
